34. Bubble

Your default mode is a field.
Or a bubble.
In it, all thoughts and emotions are balanced / integrated.
If you are trying to get there, stop.

By not trying, you realise that you are in the bubble by default – the universe looking at itself.  In it, you are not positive (trying), nor negative (not trying), but both – transcending the opposites.  The opposites complement each other in a whole which necessarily includes both, otherwise it would not be whole.

So, by staying empty, you unify the opposites – which is the same as being as full as possible.
All within the bubble.

The desire “to do”, “get better”- change one’s state of being to a better one – is a fragmented impulse, i.e. is not an expression of an integrated frame of mind. As such, it is the result of an inadequate perception of reality, and in turn, it feeds the same inadequate perception. The result is a chaotic and fearful cycle.

The solution is in the gaps: if you closely observe your mind, you will notice that there are spaces between the consciously driven impulses (as well as the resulting conditioned / passive thoughts and actions). These spaces do not appear because we make them – they are already there – they are our primary state of being.

If you can see this, the next question is: can you sustain the gaps? Can you not turn on the switch of the fragmented, driven thought?

You can: when you notice a fragmented impulse coming, don’t let it stick – just stay back, in the gap. Then, the gap becomes an ocean – it is death, and re-birth – the end of the search.

It is also the beginning.

In the first (fragmented) state, one battles with reality – striving to achieve / compete / move forward.
This is rooted in the illusionary notion that such fragmented movement leads to progress. But in actuality, what is achieved is the modification or exchange of one set of parameters (values, beliefs, thoughts, emotions etc.) with another, on the surface – while the roots / framework stay the same. In other words, the fragmented mode of existence is perpetuated.

In the second (whole) state, one is.
Being is an end in itself. One cannot ask for anything in return. The ultimate realization is that life is perfect as it is, when not interfered with. When there is nothing to improve, reality is perceived and experienced without strife. Then, the only thing to do is to follow the universal path – by letting it unfold in its specific way for each one of us.
